CHINMAYA SEVA SANGHA

A nongovernmental organisation  dedicated to voluntary rural service, stated in 1965 in Kannamangala village of Doddaballapura taluk. The Sangha was actively involved in extending voluntary rural service with only 15 members, functioning in and around 10 villages at Kannamangala.  In order to expand its activities, the Sangha moved to Bangalore and a unit of Sangha was retained at Kannamangala. Today the Sangha has six units with over 250 life members.

The Sangha has already served for over 40 years in the pursuit of rural development.

Mandates

  1. Dedicated to provide voluntary service for rural development
  2. Arranging free health check up (including clinical examination, eye check-up, eye check up and dental check up etc.) to the rural poor.
  3. Free veterinary services in rural areas.
  4. To train rural youth for self employment (tailoring, poultry, dairying etc).
  5. To assist the rural poor to pursue education.
  6. To educate the villagers in maintaining the rural hygiene, maintenance of roads and providing basic amenities.
